Task 6: Announcement

Announcement for 2021’s Tennis Activity Day

Victoria Cup will take place soon, and this year we will continue to hold the Tennis Activity Day as we aim to give local families a chance to interact with international tennis stars. This year, the Tennis Activity Day will be held on Friday, 24th September, at Ballater Hill Secondary School.

This year tennis star Lara Taranova will be there to participate in the main activities which includes a coaching session with the children as well as an autograph signing session. Children and parents will have a chance to talk to Lara, take photos and get autographs at the end of the day.

Based on the feedback from the participating families of last year’s Tennis Activity Day, we have decided that this year 5 families will be chosen to join the Tennis Activity Day, and the children of the participating family must be between 12 to 16 years old. To apply, the child of family are required to submit two sentences explaning why they would like to meet Lara Taranova, and Lara will select the participants herself. We look forward to seeing you on the Tennis Activity Day!

Task 7: Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to the recent article about Victoria Cup. In this letter, I am going to explain how we will try to stop the littering and what TV options are available for people who want to watch the Victoria Cup.

To start with, the article mentions a complaint about the fact that the fans dropped a lot of rubbish such as plastic bottles and cigarette butts. This is indeed very unfortunate. To make sure that this situation will not happen this year, we will increase the number of anti-littering signs and the number of no smoking signs. Moreover, we will also hire 35 Green Ambassadors who will ask spectators not to litter and tell them not to smoke. After the event, the ambassadors will stay behind to clean up Victoria Park as well.

With regard to the fans’ complaint about the options for watching the tournament, we can confirm that Cable TV will indeed show the whole tournament from the first round to the final. However, all the semi finals and the final will be shown on local TV so that the fans can still watch the exciting matches.

Based on what I have mentioned above, I hope I have clarified how we will prevent the littering issue this year and what TV options are available for fans to watch the Victoria Cup. We hope that people can continue to support the Victoria Cup this year and enjoy watching the matches.

Regards,
Nico Lin
