Wellness Month 2025 — A Month To Relax and Recover

Do you remember miss our Wellness Month from last year? Do you worry about your wellness as much as your academic performance? Wellness Month is scheduled to return this year in July once you finish your exams. This year, the main theme is going to be relax and recover so it’s perfect for all of us after feeling all stressed out after the exam!

In terms of the events for this year’s Wellness Month, we will re-run the Yoga and Meditation sessions, because yoga can help improve your focus and attention span. This year, it is going to be led by 2 celebrity yoga instructors. Besides doing yoga, you can also participate in the Crafting Session this year to get some hands-on experience in creating arts and crafts from Asian cotuntries if you missed that opportunity last year. Moreover, we will run the Wellness Fair that includes exercise advice and self-care resources just as last year, but this year, the fair is going to feature interactive booths to make it more interesting.

All these activities sound great, but don’t just take our word for it, and let me show you some actual student feedback on the 2024 Wellness Month. Our student Alex says tahat the Wellness Month was a chance to unwind and be more prepared for next year’s studies. Alex also adds that it was a chase to let his creativity run loose and he picked up healthy habits from the activities. Another student, Emma, says that she was impressed by the wide variety of meaningful activities while a Form 2 student named Maya claims that she enjoyed hearing the exercise talk by the Form 6 students.

After hearing all the feedback from our students, you should be convinced that the 2025 Wellness Month is an activity that you don’t want to miss out on, so mark your calendar and join us in 2025 Wellness Month. We look forward to seeing you in one of the activities.

Task 9: Proposal

Proposal For ‘Sports Day at the Beach’

Introduction

For this year’s Wellness Month, we are proposing a new event called ‘Sports Day at the Beach’, and I am going to explain why we are proposing this event, which two sports we have chosen and why we included these sports.

Purpose of the event

To begin with, ‘Sports Day at the Beach’ can serve as a mini sports day on the beach so students can spend some quality time outdoors; and we would like to propose this event because it exposes students to different cultures and let them try sports that they have never tried before.

Sports that have been chosen for this event

This event aims to get students moving, so we have chosen 2 sports that are suitable for beginners and are easy to pick up, and the details of the sports are as follow:

Sport 1: Speak Takraw

Speak Takraw is a type of volleyball from Southeast Asia played with players’ feet, head, chest and knees but no hands. It is not hard to learn, and newcomers should find it easy to pick up while having some great exercise.

Sport 2: Kabaddi

Kabaddi is a sport from India, and it is similar to the game Tag where players try to tag each other while holding their breath. It is a fun sport to play and beginners can pick this sport up quickly as well.

Location for the Event

In terms of the venue of the event, based on the recommendation from the school bus company, we suggest holding the event at Cafeteria Beach because the transport situation, traffic and parking conditions at Cafeteria Beach are better than the other beaches.

Task 10: Letter to Parents

Dear Parents of Ballater High School,

Our school has decided to hold the Wellness Month again this year, and I am writing to invite you to join us as volunteers for the Wellness Month. In this letter, I am going to highlight the benefits of the being a volunteer, outline the responsibilities for volunteers and explain how you cna get involved.

To begin with, parents volunteering at school allows students to interact with adults other than teachers, and having parent volunteers helps make students feel more relaxed during school events, which reduces depression and anxiety. On top of that, a recent study shows that the introduction of a parental support policy leads to better school performance.

Besides the benefits to students, volunteering can also benefit parents as our parent volunteers indicated that the events are fun for parents to have a great time and parents can get to know other parents and tachers as well.

Regarding the responsibilities for volunteers during Wellness Month, parent volunteers are expected to be present at their chosen event in case students need help, and they only need to administer the events by taking attendance.

Based on what I have mentioned above, I hope I have convinced you that volunteering has a lot of benefits for you and your child, and now I would like to share with you how you can get involved. To join as a volunteer, you should first sign up via the school app and then you have to attend a briefing session before helping out for the Wellness Month so that you know more abotu the event.

Thank you for your attention, and I hope to see you during our Wellness Month.

Yours sincerely,
Nico Lin
